We depend on the generosity of others to continue the mission of Sunset Home. The cost of caring for one of our residents is escalating at a tremendous pace. Each year we have to raise over $650,000 to fill the gap between the cost of care for those who have exhausted their resources and the amount of reimbursement paid by the State of Illinois. Donations, honor and memorial gifts all help fill this whole.
We rely heavily on gifts from people who thought of us while planning their wills and estates. These gifts can include cash, securities, real estate, or even a retirement plan or life insurance policy. You can set up a charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder unitrust or annuity trust. Planning ahead can help you with tax savings and also help our residents for years to come. When planning, contact a trusted lawyer or tax professional to help with any questions.

Volunteer
Sunset Home offers many opportunities for volunteering. Our dedicated volunteers offer their time and talents in many ways. They spend personal time with residents, wrap gifts, tutor in the computer lab, work in the ice cream shoppe, assist with a variety of group activities, and provide many other services. Over 6,000 annual hours of volunteer service are given for the benefit of the residents who welcome the smiles and love the volunteers bring.
