Mission Statement
The mission of Sunset Home is to share the love of Jesus Christ through services to the aging, without regard to race, color or creed. Further, our mission is to administer the care for those served with compassion and with charity, insofar as the finances of the corporation may be reasonably allocated. In accordance therewith, Sunset Home provides these services based upon the individual's ability to pay.
History
More than 100 years ago, desiring to provide care and shelter for the elderly, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Pfeiffer offered their modest home at 418 Washington, Quincy, Illinois to a few older people to provide loving care through their remaining days. They realized the need for such care was larger than what they had expected, therefore, offered the home to the St. Louis German Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. They sent a proposal offering to donate their home and its contents to the conference if the membership agreed to continue the residence as a home for the aged. The conference voted to accept the gift and in December of 1889 the home was incorporated.
Life at Sunset Home today provides a complete range of living opportunities and services. Our beautiful eleven-acre campus at 418 Washington Street offers 167 licensed rooms for health care services in the main building. The Villa complex located just across the street from the main building offers 16 independent living apartments. Additionally, Sunset Apartments located at 301 North 8th Street offers independent living to seniors in a 92 unit apartment building.
